
Brier Island with its tall cliffs and unique ecosystem is a stop-off point for migrating birds from seabirds to hawks. It has a rugged natural beauty with an abundance of rare wildflowers and wild roses. The habitat supports a wide variety of rare, unique and endangered plants and wildlife and has long been an annual destination for naturalists.
It is the extreme western tip of the North Mountain Basalt Formation. The columnar joints of basalt contains veins of quartz and agate, amethyst, jasper and zeolite, and resembles the Giants Causeway in Ireland.
The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world with a high and low tide variation of 16 meters. You can raft up the Shubenacadie River on the tidal bore and shoot the rapids. Tidalborerafting.com, shubie.com, and tidalboreraftingpark.com all offer tidal bore rafting.
